As a special education teacher, I have years of experience in teaching students impacted with autism. What I gained from my students was that I needed to learn skills in areas that they too had lagging skills. This included: self-management, executive functioning skills, stress management, active listening and speaking skills, emotional intelligence, and awareness.

Why should you learn more about self-awareness?

  1. Improved critical thinking skills and the ability to communicate effectively with others.

  2. Cultivate strong relationships.

  3. Leadership qualities are strengthened; your abilities to grow more as a leader.

  4. Growth in the area of empathy and emotional intelligence. Understanding the emotions and feelings of people in your life.

  5. Understanding your own preferences, feelings, intuitions, experiences, and builds resiliency during hard times in your life.

Journaling allows you to write with no judgments and reinforces you to connect intimately with yourself.

I have created a list of 27 journaling prompts to ignite your self-reflection process which can become a tool in your toolkit to promote self-awareness. Find a quiet space, grab your favorite pen, and let’s get started!
